It is my honor to serve as the new principal of Ray Childers Elementary School. This year is going to be a great one and I am excited about the opportunity to work alongside parents , staff, and community as we continue to lead and inspire the students of Ray Childers. I received my undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University and my graduate degree from Appalachian State University. I come to Ray Childers with 20 years of service in education, with all of my time dedicated to Burke County Public Schools. I recently served as the school administrator at GHES. Prior to my service as the lead school administrator, I served as an elementary classroom teacher for 14 years. After my time in the classroom, I had the opportunity to serve Burke County Public Schools as an Elementary Instructional Coach- serving schools in the Eastern and Western Burke County and as an assistant principal at Walter Johnson Middle School.

I firmly believe in having a strong focus on classroom instruction and a student-centered environment. All of us at Ray Childers Elementary are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever. This year is going to be amazing as we continue to provide academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections. As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors-teachers, students and parents-are excited to be here! This attitude enables us to meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun, and nurturing environment.

Being a proud resident of Burke County, I reside with my husband Daniel—a BCPS employee and our two children, Davis and Jackson. I am appreciative of the warm welcome that I have received from the Ray Childers community. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and build a strong working relationship as we move forward together.
