Administration

Dear Ray Childers families,

I would like to take a moment to express my excitement about the opportunity to serve as your principal.  I am eager to work for the families of Ray Childers and to become a part of your wonderful community.  Ray Childers’ reputation of being supportive and caring has preceded itself.

The 2017-2018 school year will start my sixth year as a Burke County Public School administrator.  Previously, I served as the principal at Heritage Middle School.  Prior to my time at Heritage, I taught 8th grade math and science at Liberty Middle School.  I am an Appalachian State graduate along with a University of North Carolina at Greensboro Teaching Fellow graduate.  As a Burke County native, my husband and I chose to raise our children, Greysen and Alana, in our beautiful county.

I am dedicated to serve and support the students and families of Burke County Public Schools.  Our mission at Ray Childers is that all students deserve to learn in a place where the staff is devoted to inspiring lifelong learning through a nurturing environment while meeting the needs of each child.  To accomplish this mission, we will set high expectations for our students and each other, to work collaboratively with parents and the community.  Our focus is to provide a rigorous environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers, inspired learners, and good citizens. This focus prepares our students to equip themselves with the skills to be successful in a global community.

If there is any way that I can serve you, please do not hesitate to contact me.  You can reach me at hbristol@burke.k12.nc.us or via phone at (828) 324-1340.

I cannot wait to meet you and your students in the next few months!  I will offer a “Popsicle with the Principal” meet and greet in order to meet as many families as possible!  If your schedule permits, please drop in on August 8th from 4-6pm.  I look forward to joining the Pirate family at Ray Childers Elementary School.

                                                                                                                                 Sincerely,                          Heidi Bristol
